P7M – Miss Moss

This term there are 2 main teachers working with P7M: Miss Moss (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and Mr Lawrence (Monday, Wednesday).

We began the term, along with the rest of the school, looking at the painting ‘Bathers at Asnieres’ by Georges Seurat. We wrote our own imaginative stories about a river adventure, recreated the painting as a whole class, and found out about Seurat’s life and pointillism style.

We enjoyed watching the show, ‘The Secret Garden’ and we have been reading the book in class.

We have thought a lot about our new school values: honesty, respect, positivity, kindness and equality and inclusion. The whole school is using lessons called ‘Bounceback’ to help us think about these values and what they mean in more detail.

In maths, we have been working to develop our mental strategies for addition and subtraction problems. Now we will move on to strategies for multiplication and division as well. With Mr Lawrence we have learnt about chance and uncertainty and measure.

Our first topic is ‘World War I’. 2018 marks 100 years since the end of WWI and we will take part in special events for Remembrance Day linked to this.
